Veteran actress Nadia Jamil recently shared a hilarious story from her teenage years involving none other than cricket legend Imran Khan.

The tale, which Nadia recounted during a podcast appearance, offers a glimpse into a nerve-wracking yet amusing chapter of her life.

The story begins with a young Nadia Jamil, who was out for a leisurely drive with her then-boyfriend, now-husband, Ali Pervaiz.

The couple was enjoying their time together, cruising to their favorite tunes, when they were abruptly stopped by President Zia-ul-Haq’s notorious special police squad. This squad was infamous for its random checks on couples, often demanding to see a Nikkah Nama (marriage certificate) to prove their legitimacy.

Caught off guard and understandably panicked, Nadia decided to call her uncle, Yousaf Salahuddin, for assistance. She was keen to avoid involving her father, fearing his reaction. Little did she know, her father was at the same gathering where her uncle was entertaining guests.

To Nadia’s surprise, a rescue team of five people arrived at the police station to bail her out. Among them were her uncle Yousaf Salahuddin, her father, and the legendary Imran Khan.

The presence of the 1992 World Cup-winning cricketer seemed to have a magical effect on the police officers, who were starstruck and eager to please. They promptly served Imran Khan tea, and the matter was resolved without further ado, allowing Nadia and Ali to leave without any trouble.

Years later, Imran Khan humorously acknowledged the incident, telling Nadia, “You’re a good kid—you actually married that boy.”

While this anecdote from Nadia’s past is funny, it also carries a touch of irony since Imran Khan is currently in Adiala Jail due to political reasons.
