The Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) Karachi marked International Dance Day with a lively event at Auditorium One, bringing together a variety of dance groups and styles to celebrate the art of movement.
The celebration featured performances by the Arts Council Dance Academy and several other dance groups, who showcased classical, hip-hop, cultural, and filmi dance routines.
The evening was highlighted by a captivating Kathak performance from internationally acclaimed dancer Nighat Chaudhry. Dancers Mani Chao, Adnan Butt, and Abdul Ghani from the Arts Council Dance Academy also impressed the audience with their exceptional talent.
During the event, the President of the Arts Council, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, spoke about the positive impact of dance on mental health, emphasizing its role in combating modern-day depression. He encouraged young artists to take advantage of the opportunities at the Arts Council, saying, “The doors of the Arts Council are always open for talented young artists. Come, learn, and perform.”
Mani Chao, Head of the Dance Academy, highlighted the event’s focus on celebrating Pakistan’s diverse languages and cultures through dance. Faculty members from the Arts Council Dance Academy and students from the Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) also took part in the performances. Empowerment Committee Chairperson Chand Gul presented flowers to Nighat Chaudhry in recognition of her contribution.
Other performers included Jerry, Kabir, Roheel, Arfeen, Sajan, TBC, Owais, Ghani Group, Angel, Sameera, Asif, Ali Aqil, and Ali (Popper). The event was attended by Fine Arts Committee Chairman Farrukh Shahab, Stage Show Committee Chairman Iqbal Latif, and a large number of dance enthusiasts.
