Aima Baig released the music video of her song Pyar Hua Tha last week, which is a cover of Kaifi Khalil’s song, Kahani Suno. The song fell flat, Aima Baig failed to deliver, Pakistanis were unimpressed, and we all wondered why she chose to butcher a masterpiece.
Dialogue Pakistan reported yesterday that Aima Baig explained that she had sung Kaifi Khalil’s song because its lyrics were similar to her condition.
It quoted her as saying, “I didn’t have the words to convey my sentiments at the time, but when I heard Kaifi’s song, I realized he was speaking exactly what I was thinking. His music has truly helped me heal from a difficult period in my life”.
Pakistani netizens did not connect with it at all. Many felt that the inclusion of a western touch destroyed the song and decided that it would be better to ignore her rendition and instead focus on Kaifi’s previous one.
