The new Aladdin trailer was released at the Grammy’s and it’s got a blue Genie!
While the Grammys are all about music, last night the Grammy’s were also about the blue Genie.
The first teaser for Aladdin immediately raised concerns about the color of Genie.
The movie’s first full trailer put those rumors to rest. Yes, we are going with the original theme here, just like the classic one played by Robin Williams.
We only get to see a bit of Genie at the end but people are surely loving the blue hues here.
The film cast Canadian actor Mena Massoud as Aladdin. Princess Jasmine is being played by Naomi Scott.

Some people think that the CGI Genie seems a little off.
When Will Smith’s face popped up on that poorly animated blue genie. #Aaladin #Grammys pic.twitter.com/mHMDcyQQau

Of course, some comparisons were made.

I think this is a actually a good side by side for how to do and NOT to do a CG character with an actor's facial features applied. Thanos looks like he's actually a living character in the movie, Genie looks like he just has Will Smith's face copy-pasted on. https://t.co/caxTOVZonJ

Shortly after the teaser trailer for Aladdin was released, a series of pictures were out for our first look at the live-action adaptation of the Disney animated film.
The first objection arose when Will Smith as Genie was not blue, and therefore not true to the original.
To clear the air, actor Will Smith assured people that the Genie will be blue.

Now that we have a blue genie, people are questioning what went wrong with the CGI. Disney has some pretty amazing graphics, just look at Abu in the same movie….cuteness overload.
Some people are not happy about it though:
