Pakistani rockstar Ali Azmat landed in hot waters over his recent remarks about legendary Pakistani songstress Noor Jehan.

The Junoon frontman made some mean-spirited remarks about the ‘Queen of Melody’ during his appearance on Ahmad Pansota’s show.

Ali Azmat was talking about Pakistani Music and Arts when he began talking about veteran singer Noor Jehan. The songstress is widely celebrated in the sub-continent and is deemed a musical legend. Particularly for singing patriotic songs live for soldiers during the war of 1965.

While talking about transitions in Pakistan’s music industry over the years, Ali Azmat mentioned how he wasn’t fond of the songstress as a child.

“In my childhood, Noor Jehan used to sing on a show draped in Saari with big earrings and extra makeup on. We used to hate that woman.”

That’s not all. The Khudi singer then went on to describe ‘Malaka-e-Taranum‘ as a ‘meatball‘.

“Looked like a meatball, she was an old age woman at that time and we used to think that it’s not necessary for us to watch it.”

Azmat describes this as the time when people began exploring other music.

“This was the time when we accepted the other culture and it became a norm later on.”

Meanwhile, on the topic of ‘regulating obscenity’ in American society, the singer claims how that’s a misconception. He said they also curb ‘vulgarity’ in America and people also forbid their children from doing drugs.

He also said that he is entitled to reject temptations in society. On the subject of resisting obscenity and provocation, Ali Azmat stated;

“I’m not a person that if Madonna is appearing on screen and I will stick my tongue out,… Yes it happened but after few minutes someone said to close it, otherwise a fly will enter in your mouth.”

Meanwhile, the other guest on the show had even more regressive statements up his sleeve. Ahmad Pansota strongly disputed these statements.
