As of Monday, May 18th, the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered all provinces to open markets and shopping malls amid the pandemic.

Despite the rise in infections, the court is of the view that opening these public places so that the people can prepare for Eid. Not only that, but markets and malls will operate even on weekends until the end.

Actor Ali Rehman Khan is also against this decision.

In a tweet, the Heer Maan Ja star wrote,

“Bravo #SupremeCourt, bravo. Clearly not shopping for Eid is what really scares us. (Slow clap).”

It is indeed true that these retailers and shop owners need to make a living and since Eid is just around the corner, they have to fulfill the daily necessities of their households.

However, people need to be cognizant of following the required SOPs while going to these places. And with a place like a shopping mall, which can easily get crowded, the risk of contracting the virus increases.

We are not the only victims of coronavirus or the lockdown. The whole world is struggling with it and this is clearly not a good time to go for Eid shopping. Health and safety come first.
