Pop star, Ali Zafar performed in front of Indian poet Javed Akhtar at the Faiz Literary Festival in Lahore.
Art can transcend man-made constructs like borders and the Teefa in Trouble star singing a classic Bollywood song to the man who wrote it more than 30 years ago proves this point.
The video clip of Ali Zafar singing Kishore Kumar’s “Zindagi Aa Raha Hoon Main from the 1984 Indian film Mashaal is making rounds all over social media. What makes this performances so special is the fact that Zafar managed to captivate the man who penned the song — Javed Akhtar.
The renowned Indian poet had the best seat in the house as Ali Zafar serenaded the legendary artist with his rendition of the classic track.
Ali Zafar shared the clip of his performance on social media with the caption,
The universe brings the opportunity to sing one of my favorite love songs written by the legendary Javed Akhtar sahab in front of him for the love of my life Ayesha Fazli.
He went on to express his feelings about the cross-cultural event on Twitter, saying, “It was an honor to host him[Javed Akhtar]. I have always believed art and music transcends boundaries and is the best way to bring people together. Love is the ONLY way to peace”.
It was an honour to host him. I have always believed art & music transcends boundaries and is the best way to bring people together. Love is the ONLY way to peace. Thank you @Javedakhtarjadu sahab for gracing us with your presence. Thank you Faiz sahab for keeping us connected. https://t.co/08lnMT2b6o

This isn’t the first time Ali Zafar had the honor of singing in front of the Indian poet as earlier this year, he met Akhtar at a house party hosted by Fauzia Kehar. We certainly hope these meet each other again, and maybe collaborate to create something magical.
