Amir Khan Takes the Heat for “Thugs of Hindostan”

The actor apologised to his audience for the film’s failure

While most people would look for a scapegoat when in turbulent waters, the ever-popular Amir Khan proved that there are still honest folk out there.

The Indian actor, who is notorious for being too picky with his roles, took full blame for the failure of Thugs of Hindostan. He admitted that while there is a fraction of society that did like the film, the rest were calling for mutiny.

The actor admitted that while the entire cast and crew went all in for the film they went wrong somewhere and ended up lost at sea.

“I want to apologize to my audience also as this time I wasn’t able to entertain them. I know people came in theaters with a lot of expectations but they didn’t enjoy the film.”

Even a High-Powered Cast Couldn’t Save the Movie

With a star-studded cast that could have only came from the heavens, what made Thugs of Hindostan hit rocky waters? The film, a production of Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films, was expected to make it big at the box office but unfortunately it tanked.

Although Amir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan have loyal fanbases that contribute to their recurring successes, even that wasn’t enough for Thugs of Hindostan to float. Amir Khan is known for his versatile roles such as his performances in films like Taare Zameen Par, Ghajini, 3 Idiots, and PK but it looks as if Thugs of Hindostan either didn’t offer that versatility or it was too much.

The Vijay Krishna Acharyathe-directed vehicle was one of the most anticipated Bollywood films of this year, with bookings opening up in advance weeks ahead.

Amir Khan referred to his films as his children. He stated that each project is close to his heart and the failure of a film is painful. He listed this as the reason for the long silence on the movie’s performance and setbacks.

Amir Khan’s other two films of this year Dangaal and Secret Superstar did phenomenally well in China, the world’s largest film market.Thugs of Hindostan is yet to be released in China, so maybe there is still some hope for the flick.
