Amtul Baweja Calls Out Nadia Khan for Policing Her Choice of Clothes On the Show

Instagram influencer, Amtul Baweja was invited to Nadia Khan’s morning show as a guest.

Popular Instagram influencer, Amtul Baweja, was invited as a guest to Nadia Khan’s Morning Show and was later asked to click some pictures for the thumbnails and promotion of the show. The problem arose when the producers asked Amtul to cover her shoulders as they were visible through the cuts of her shirt.

This greatly perturbed Amtul as she was not given any direction on the dressing before the show. She had no scarf or dupatta to cover hence had to awkwardly place her hair over the cuts to hide them to some extent. Once again a woman was reprimanded for her choice of outfit and was forced to comply with the misogynist standards of our society.

Amtul Baweja poured her heart out in her Instagram stories

Amtul shared a detailed account of this encounter in her stories on Wednesday. She highlighted that women have always been targeted using different tactics.

“Don’t just call people and expect them to change for you. I know it’s ‘just clothes’ and people will say ‘it’s just some small matter and you’re making a big drama over nothing’ but us women have been going through this for a long, long time.” said Amtul.

“And what bothers me more is that women have to face this because no man will ever hear ‘yaar your clothes aren’t right, your shirt is too tight’ or ‘why are you wearing a light-coloured shirt, change into a dark one’,” she said. “Nobody will tell a man this but we have to forever, forever, forever, hear this,” she added on.

Wear whatever the hell you want

As a result of this incident, Amtul asked her followers on Instagram to send her videos and pictures of wearing whatever the hell they want! Be it a niqab, tube top, shalwar or shirt, they were free to choose and express themselves.

“Imagine you’re looking into the eyes of society and you’re saying you’re going to wear what you want and do whatever it is you want to do,” she urged
