Anushka Sharma Spotted Filming for India vs. Pak Match in Kolkata’s Eden Gardens [Images]

The Bollywood actress is set to make her return to the big screen after four years.

Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma was spotted filming for the upcoming cricket movie, Chakda ‘Xpress, at the Eden Gardens cricket ground in Kolkata. On Monday, paparazzi got exclusive behind-the-scenes pictures of the actress dressed as Jhulan Goswami filming an India-Pakistan cricket match.

Chakda ‘Xpress is a biopic based on the life of Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami. The film, which will be screened on Netflix, is currently in production and is scheduled to be released on the OTT platform in December 2022.

Several Indian publications recently got a hold of some exclusive pictures from the ongoing shoot of Chakda ‘Xpress at the Eden Gardens Stadium. In the pictures, we see a sweaty Anushka Sharma with a woman dressed in the Pakistani colors in the background.

In another photo, Anuskha is surrounded by the film crew as she is given direction by the Chakhda ‘Xpress director, Prosit Roy. The Indian filmmaker has previously worked with her in the 2016 supernatural horror film, Pari.

Netflix India first dropped a teaser trailer for the upcoming film back in January:

Last month, fans got a more in-depth look into the making of Chakda ‘Xpress with word from the director. Prosit said,

Chakda ‘Xpress is Jhulan Goswami. It is Jhulan’s journey from small town Chakdaha, all the way to the World Cup finals. We are trying to capture the raw energy of Jhulan and we are trying to be as honest as possible with the story.

Jhulan Goswami is one of the most famous female cricketers in the world. The now-retired Indian fast bowler won many accolades during her illustrious career, and she holds the record for the most wickets in women’s international cricket.

Anushka Sharma is a famous Bollywood actress and starred in many hit Indian films over the years. The actress tied the knot with Indian cricket star Virat Kohli in 2017 and welcomed a baby girl, Vamika, in 2021.

Chakda ‘Xpress will mark Anushka Sharma’s return to the big screen after four years. The actress’s last film was Zero in 2018.

Historically, Bollywood’s biopics on female athletes have not had much success at the box office. With the exception of the Priyanka Chopra-starrer, Mary Kom, films such as Shabaash Mithu (a film about Indian pacer Mithali Raj, starring Taapsee Pannu), and Parineeti Chopra’s Sania, both failed commercially while MS Dhoni: The Untold Story starring the late Sushant Singh Rajput was a box-office hit.

We’ll have to wait and see if Chakda ‘Xpress is worth watching or not. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
