Legendary comedians Moin Akhtar and Anwar Maqsood were like two peas in a pod. Pakistani showbiz has not seen such a seamless pairing of two thespians who were both at the top of their game in their heydays. To this day, Pakistanis really miss their biting yet sharp commentary on current issues. Their most famous production Loose Talk remains a household name, given Moin Akhtar’s top-notch mimicry skills coupled with socially-conscious questions posed by his co-star Anwar Maqsood. It’s a formula that resonated with Pakistanis, and continues to endure to this day.
But alas, Pakistan lost Moin Akhtar almost a decade ago, and things were never the same again.
It is said that time heals all wounds. Perhaps that is why, after so many years, Anwar Maqsood is again making his presence felt with numerous productions. But it seems his latest project with actor Yasir Hussain is drawing a lot of comparisons with the slick production that was Loose Talk.

A new talk show featuring Anwar Maqsood and Yasir Hussain has become the talk of the town. Sponsored by Sensodyne, the show Mere Aangan Se has raised some eyebrows. People are finding close similarities to the scriptwriter’s old show Loose Talk.
While Yasir Hussain is a talented actor, he is what most people would call a controversial figure. Due to his opinionated nature and outspoken personality, the Jhooti actor doesn’t really strike as a fan-favorite with Pakistanis.
However, not all reactions to the new web-series were negative. Many fans and followers also stood by the 36-year-old’s side. Before we get into the reactions, let’s take a look at the show’s promo:
Most of Anwar Maqsood’s old fans were disheartened. Some were even angered by the promo. They opine that Yasir Hussain is not talented enough to replace Moin Akhter in such a show.

While most of the reactions to this news were negative, some of them also tried to see it for its fresh take. Yasir Hussain’s fans came to his defense and said that his personal opinions should be kept aside. The Baandi actor’s fans say he is a brilliant actor and a perfect fit for this role.
