DG ISPR Babar Iftikhar said that the leaders of the opposition party, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will be offered ‘tea and snacks’ if they decide to stage a long march towards Rawalpindi.
During a press conference, the director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) was asked about PDM leader Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman’s threats. The opposition indicated that the direction of its anti-government movement could turn towards the army leadership.
However, the Major General, responded to the question very calmly. Was this a hint at the ‘tea was fantastic’ incident? We really don’t know.
“I don’t see a reason for them coming to Pindi. And if at all they want to come, we will offer them chai pani and look after them. What more can I say?”

Earlier this month, Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman had said that the 11-party opposition alliance’s movement would no longer target the government but also “his backers”, hinting that the long march to the capital “could also be to Rawalpindi” as it is a metonym for the headquarters of the Pakistan Army.
