Arooj Aftab to Perform at 2024 Glastonbury Festival Alongside SZA and Dua Lipa

The Grammy-winning artist made the announcement on her Instagram.

Renowned Pakistani-Brooklyn-based singer Arooj Aftab is gearing up to mesmerize audiences at the legendary Glastonbury Festival in London this June.

Aftab, celebrated for her ethereal vocals and unique fusion of classical and contemporary sounds, took to Instagram to share the exhilarating news with her legion of fans.

“UK make plans! We are back at Glastonbury, June 2024,” exclaimed the 39-year-old in her Instagram post, accompanied by a poster featuring her image for the event.

Arooj Aftab also unveiled the highly-anticipated festival line-up in a carousel post, promising an eclectic array of performances from both seasoned and emerging artists, including LCD Soundsystem, PJ Harvey, and Cyndi Lauper.

In a historic move, female acts will dominate two of the three headline slots at Britain’s Glastonbury Festival for the first time this June, with Dua Lipa and SZA set to top the bill alongside rock band Coldplay, as announced by organizers on Thursday.

Grammy-winning British-Albanian sensation Dua Lipa, renowned for hits like “New Rules” and “One Kiss,” will make her eagerly awaited Pyramid Stage debut shortly after the release of her highly anticipated third album, “Radical Optimism.”

Meanwhile, Coldplay, stalwarts of the festival scene, will be headlining for a record-breaking fifth time, showcasing their enduring appeal to audiences worldwide.

Adding a touch of surprise to the line-up is US R&B star SZA, whose acclaimed album “SOS” clinched a Grammy last month, with the single “Kill Bill” dominating the British charts for months.

The announcement of the festival’s diverse and female-led headline acts marks a notable departure from last year’s all-male top of the bill, garnering praise for its commitment to inclusivity and diversity.

Earlier this year, Arooj Aftab narrowly missed out on double Grammy glory despite receiving nods in two categories. While her album “Love in Exile” earned a nomination for Best Jazz Alternative Album, her work on “Shadow Forces” secured a nod for New Vocal or Instrumental Global Music Recordings.

Arooj, who made history as the first Pakistani artist to win music’s highest honors in 2022, continues to captivate audiences with her innovative musical endeavors, ensuring her enduring legacy in the global music landscape.
