ARY’s ‘Jalan’ Hits The Right Notes with Its Audience

The most anticipated drama serial Jalan is now being on aired on ARY Digital. There has been a lot of negative buzz on social media before the drama was aired. Although just barely two episodes old, it seems to be hitting the right notes with the audience nationwide who are expressing their interest and love towards this latest project at least for now.

The general reception has been positive so far, however, it remains to be seen how well it proves to the test of time and that how successful it remains in keeping our drama-goers hooked.

With its array of talented actors and actresses, handpicked by the producers, the drama does seem promising in a multitude of aspects. The most important one being the selection of the cast itself which serves as a breath of fresh air for the rising Pakistani audience which had been seemingly drained of watching dramas based on both older concepts and cast.

The drama serial has registered two on-screen couples — Ahmer (Fahad Sheikh) & Nisha (Minal Khan) paired along with Asfand (Emmad Irfani) and Misha (Areeba Habib), and both these couples share great on-screen chemistry. Kudos to both the actors and the casting team on this!

Nisha and Misha are two young sisters who are in their pursuit of finding love. However, not everybody shares the same perspective on love. And the serial is centered on how differently the two sisters identify the rightful chronicles or outcomes in love to deem theirs as true.

Ahmer and Nisha are a happy-go-lucky couple who have been engaged for a while now and look forward to ultimately tying the knot in pursuit of true love. Head-over-heels in love with Nisha, Ahmer is a man of humble belongings. He is shown to be a lively young chap who has all the right traits that a young girl could wish to have in her life partner. He is charming, sincere, loving, devoted, and at the same time respectful to her fiancé Nisha and her family. Also, he earns a modest income from his employment which is sufficient to get them both going on with their basic needs fulfilled in life.

Things take a critical turn when her sister Misha too seems to have found her true love, Asfand, who is shown to be a business magnate. In a rushed sequence of events, Asfand directly proposes Misha for marriage and they soon get hitched. The wedding turns out to be an epitome of flamboyance and luxury. Jewelry is exchanged like never before and a future for the couple where every luxury of life, let alone basic necessities being granted is visibly assured. All this glitz and glam jolts Misha’s younger sister Nisha to the point of invoking in her the lust and hunger of having it all for herself too.

It is from this point onward that Nisha starts envying Asfand instead who is now her brother-in-law and starts getting distant from her charming and loving fiancé, Ahmer. Greed blinds young Nisha to the extent that she starts thinking less of her own love interest and there comes every bit of comparison drawn between Asfand and Ahmer.

Ahmer, who, on the other hand, is barely aware of his world imminently crumbling down, keeps on struggling to tend to Nisha’s every need and happiness. In the very next episode, however, Nisha tells Ahmer that she could not marry him because she thinks he could not provide her with as lavish a lifestyle as Asfand. This badly hurts Ahmer who is now left devastated. Ahmer, played by the super talented Fahad Sheikh, is but now a beautiful paradox in itself.

On one hand, his innocent smile is bound to leave the audience gasping for air, yet he has little left to cry upon but resiliently stands up again to prove to Nisha that true love transcends everything else in life.

On a whole, this drama serial looks promising in providing the Pakistani drama audience with something fresh and newer and at the same time leaves considerable room for the young cast to deliver upon their characters, especially for the young Minal and super talented Fahad Sheikh who seem to be becoming the main leads for the successive episodes.

We all witnessed Fahad Sheikh’s phenomenal acting in his previous drama serial Badbakht in which he did a negative role named ‘Arman Abid Ali‘.

According to Fahad, Jalan gave him an opportunity to explore new dimensions of his acting. Ahmer, the integral part of drama will go through multiple phases of life and each phase will have a different effect on his personality. To play all the traits of a character’s personality is one hell of a task. You need to understand the character and transform according to every scene.

We are hoping to see some major bangs in Jalan’s upcoming episodes. Jalan can be watched every Wednesday at 8 PM on Ary Digital.
