Atif Aslam Pays Tribute To the Late Lata Mangeshkar

Atif Aslam paid homage to Lata jee by singing one of her iconic hit songs ‘Naam Gum Jaega’.

Fans of Lata Mangeshkar around the world were left shaken by her demise last week. This ensued a floodgate of tributes and condolences on her death from all around the world. The devastating news of the singer’s demise engulfed the entire subcontinent. Prominent politicians, celebrities and singers from all over the globe paid tribute to the celebrated legend. The Lag Ja Galay singer succumbed to her battle with Covid-19.

The “nightingale of India” who gave her voice to Indian movies for more than 70 years, was honored at a state funeral on Sunday after she passed away at the age of 92. Lata Mangeshkar was a playback singer providing music to be mimed by actors for innumerable Indian movies. Her soft  and mesmerizing voice, which could attain a high pitch with unsurpassable ease made her stand out amongst most singers the subcontinent produced.

Celebrities from Pakistan too grieved and paid tribute to the late star including Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Bilal Maqsood, Adeel Chaudhry etc. Joining the bandwagon Atif Aslam too paid homage to Lata Jee by singing one of her iconic hit songs ‘Naam Gum Jaega‘.

In a career spanning over seven decades, Mangeshkar sang over 25,000 songs in over 2,000 films in many Indian languages, most commonly Hindi, Marathi and Bengali.
