Actor Ali Raza is certainly grabbing everyone’s attention with his charisma and swagger in the hit drama serial Dastak. However, veteran actress Atiqa Odho is “turned off” by the young actor, not by his performance but his rather his hairy chest.
During a recent interview with Nadia Khan and Marina Khan, Atiqa Odho questioned why male actors aren’t held to the same wardrobe standards as their female counterparts, singling out Raza’s partially unbuttoned shirts and visible chest hair.
“Women are constantly instructed to wear long sleeves and follow strict wardrobe rules,” she remarked. “Why shouldn’t the same standards apply to men?” She added, “It’s not necessary to show a hairy chest on screen. Please, do wax your chest. Hairy chests are the biggest turn-off. I can even take you to the salon.”
The conversation, though lighthearted, sparked a broader discussion about gendered expectations in Pakistani television, with Marina Khan referencing other male actors known for similar on-screen looks.
Ali Raza addressed the viral remarks on Instagram, commenting under a clip of the interview: “Lagta hai baat toṛi galat jagah kar di inho ne. #AwamNhiChorayGy.” His witty response drew a wave of support from fans, many of whom praised his confidence and style, with comments like, “Ali, we just love the way you are.”
