Autopsy Confirms Cause of Death in Zohra Shah Case

New details confirm earlier accusations.

Over a month later, the murder of Zohra Shah is back in the news. Following the arrest of her employers, Hassan Siddiqui and his wife Umme Kulsoom, the child’s post-mortem and autopsy reports were ordered. The reports now confirm that she had died from her injuries inflicted via torture and beating.

Express Tribune reports that the eight-year-old had been kicked brutally kicked in her genitals. Police officials further added that she had serious injuries which eventually caused her death.

Police are not permitted to release details in an ongoing investigation, however, a police official anonymously revealed that Zohra Shah’s autopsy confirms she was beaten to death.

The Rawat Police received the child’s autopsy details on Wednesday. A police official also revealed that the couple even filmed the beating on their cellphones. The suspects’ cellular phones contained videos showing Zohra being beaten.

The suspects’ cellphones with the incriminating videos have been handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing for further investigation.

Since it was also suspected that the minor Zohra Shah had been sexually assaulted at the hands of her employer, the authorities are now waiting for the DNA test reports from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA).

The results of a polygraph test are also awaited. The suspects, Hassan Siddiqui, and Umme Kulsoom have completed their physical remand and are currently detained at the Adiala jail on judicial remand.

Background of Zohra Shah case

On June 1st, the couple was arrested by Rawat Police for physically abusing and killing their eight-year-old servant Zohra in cold blood. She was beaten to death for accidentally freeing an expensive parrot. Zohra had opened a cage of five parrots, accidentally setting two of them free.

The exotic parrots’ market value was around Rs 60,000. In a fit of anger, her employers ended up claiming the life of an innocent child.
