Bilal Abbas Khan and Hadiqa Kiani really made waves with their roles in ‘Dobara‘. However, did you know that the Pyar Ke Sadqey actor might not have been cast for the role of ‘Maahir’.
He was actually the second choice for the role as Diyar-e-Dil actor Osman Khalid Butt was first approached with the script.
How do we know this? During his appearance on Nida Yasir’s Good Morning Pakistan, when asked if he regrets passing a script, he named Dobara.
“Usually, I don’t feel any regret because when I read [the script], I can tell whether it’s powerful enough or not. Also, sometimes you feel like you won’t fit well in the character and that you won’t be able to portray it with honesty.”
According to the Chupke Chupke star, he regrets not being able to take up the Danish Nawaz’s project. The drama serial is now famed for the performances by Bilal Abbas Khan and Hadiqa Kiani.
At the time he couldn’t find room in his schedule to take up the drama serial. The shooting for the drama serial came too soon after Chupke Chupke and he couldn’t take on the project.
“Dobara, which was directed by Danish Nawaz. At the time, I was stuck in Karachi because of Covid and I was also shifting. Chupke Chupke had also taken off. I had a lot of commitments and responsibilities in Islamabad that I had to fulfil, and the shoots were starting very soon after Chupke Chupke. So, unfortunately, I couldn’t do it. But after watching five to ten episodes [of Dobara] and even after reading the script, I found it very interesting.”
On the other hand, the writer and director shared how he wants to kickstart his own production house too.
“I have thought about getting into production. I’ve always been very interested in direction and gathering a team. Writing is something I’ve been doing for some time. Just trying to take it to the next level now.”
