Yusaku announced this on his official YouTube channel, saying it was a ‘serious social trial’ to see if money makes people happy.

Giving out details, the tech tycoon said he will divvy up one billion yen (around $9 million) among 1000 Twitter users, which makes it to a million yen ($9,100 approx.) for each winner.

Winners can spend the money as they like, but they have to answer regular questions about how they are using the money.

More than 4 million people had signed up for the contest before the deadline of January 7. Winners will be decided through a lottery, and they will receive confirmation through a direct message from Maezawa.
