Cricketer Bismah Maroof makes the nation proud as leads the Pakistani athletes at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. The women’s cricket team captain was the flag bearer for Pakistan.

The 2022 Commonwealth Games (or Birmingham 2022) have officially begun. The international multi-sport event will feature all of the Commonwealth nations compete against each other for the glory of their country.

 

The event is taking place in Birmingham, England as it had a glamorous opening ceremony. Athletes from each of the Commonwealth nations paraded around the Alexander Stadium in Perry Park, proudly representing their country.

For Bismah Maroof, it was one of the most proudest moments of her career. The 31-year-old captain of the women’s cricket team was the flag bearer for Pakistan.

Bismah marched ahead of the rest, proudly waving the green and white flag of Pakistan. She took to her social media account on Twitter to share her joy with the fans.

“I had tears with a smile and goosebumps with a lot of excitement,” Bismah wrote. “It was a great great great honor to be the flag bearer of my beloved country Pakistan. Blessed.”

It was another proud moment for another Pakistani as Malala Yousafzai opened the 2022 Commonwealth Games ceremony. The 25-year-old Nobel laureate gave a rousing speech to the thousands of people in attendance
