‘Black-ish’ Star Anthony Anderson to Host 75th Emmy Awards

The comedian is thrilled to host the award show, bringing his signature brand of humor.

Emmy-winning actor and renowned comedian Anthony Anderson is set to host for the highly anticipated 75th Emmy Awards, scheduled to air on January 15, 2024.

Originally slated for September 2023, the three-hour ceremony faced delays due to industry strikes but is now ready to dazzle audiences live on Fox, spanning coast-to-coast.

Addressing the recent challenges faced by Hollywood, Anderson approached the announcement with his signature humor, highlighting the industry’s resilience.

With our industry’s recent challenges behind us, we can get back to what we love — dressing up and honoring ourselves,” quipped Anderson. “And there’s no better celebratory moment to bring the creative community together than the milestone 75th Emmy Awards.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the monumental occasion, Anderson playfully remarked, “When Fox asked me to host this historic telecast, I was over the moon that Taylor Swift was unavailable, and now I can’t wait to be part of the biggest night in television.”

Anderson’s selection as the host aligns seamlessly with his recent involvement in Fox’s upcoming game show, We Are Family, premiering on January 3, 2024. Fox Entertainment’s President of Unscripted Programming, Allison Wallach, expressed confidence in Anderson’s ability to captivate audiences. “Anthony’s known for his humor, heart, and spontaneity, so he’s sure to give audiences in the theater and at home a night they’ll never forget.”

A familiar face on the Emmy stage, Anderson has earned 11 nominations for his exceptional work on ABC’s Black-ish over the past decade. His versatile contributions extend beyond acting to Emmy-winning specials and executive production roles.

Academy Chair Frank Scherma conveyed his excitement about Anderson’s hosting role, stating, “Anthony is a multi-talented performer and a great friend to the Television Academy. We are thrilled that he is hosting what promises to be a rich celebration of the year’s outstanding television, as well as 75 years of Emmys excellence!”

The live Emmy telecast, emanating from the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles, is poised to be a star-studded event, celebrating the best in television from the past year and commemorating 75 years of Emmy history.
