Bollywood Singer Kumar Sanu Says He Wont Perform With Pakistanis

A very sad trend.

Kumar Sanu

Famous Bollywood playback singer Kumar Sanu is the latest celebrity who has refused to perform in any show promoted by a Pakistani. As a result, the playback singer lost a lot of followers, mostly Pakistani fans, after he released a video.

In the video, Kumar Sanu says that he will soon tour the United States with a series of performances alongside Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan. In what seems to be a creeping sign of Bollywood celebrities embracing their newborn nationalistic tendencies, Kumar took great pains to make it clear that all of these events have been organized only by promoters who aren’t Pakistanis.

“Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan and I are coming to the United States to perform but we will not attend any show promoted by a Pakistani.”

This marks another artist who has given in to pressure from India’s Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE).

Why Did Kumar Sanu Release a Video?

Earlier, a photograph of FWICE’s notice to the three touring artists emerged on social media.

The 90s famed playback singers were scheduled to perform together at an event in the US on November 17. The event was being organized by a Pakistani national, Moazzma Hunain. So the FWICE ‘asked nicely‘ that the trio cancel the concert for the ‘dignity of the country‘.

“FWICE holds the dignity of our country as paramount. Time and again we have informed the members of the film fraternity to abstain from associating with a Pakistani National in any platform of cultural or professional activities in Pakistan or in any part of the world.”

The FWICE even referenced how they forced another singer Diljit Dosanjh from performing at a US concert organized by a Pakistani-American.

We understand that the Indian government is systematically barring any collaboration with Pakistanis. However, the elaborate stunt that Kumar Sanu made out of this may have been unnecessary. His ‘over-enthusiastic’ efforts to look nationalistic just made him look like a bigot rather than an artist who has been subjected to coercion.

“Promoters who are from other countries have nothing to worry about. We will be performing in their shows.”

Pakistani fans are not amused

Of course, Pakistani netizens clapped back at Kumar’s latest stunt.
