Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was hospitalized following a violent attack at his Mumbai home during an attempted burglary.
The 54-year-old actor, known for films like Race, was reportedly stabbed six times by an intruder who broke into his Bandra residence around 2:30 am local time.
According to police reports, the attacker fled the scene before authorities arrived, and the case remains under investigation.
Saif Ali Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery for his injuries. Among his wounds were two deep stab injuries, one perilously close to his spine. Hospital officials stated that the full extent of the damage would be known only after the procedure.
The actor’s team released an official statement: “There was an attempted burglary at Mr. Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently in hospital undergoing surgery. We request the media and fans to be patient and will provide updates on the situation.”
An insider shared that the incident began around 1:00 am when a nanny in the house spotted the intruder armed with a knife. She raised the alarm, prompting Saif Ali Khan to intervene to protect his family. During the struggle, the attacker stabbed the actor before fleeing.
Saif Ali Khan’s family also issued a statement requesting privacy: “This is a police matter, and we ask the media and fans for patience as we await updates.”
The shocking incident has left Bollywood in disbelief, with fans and fellow celebrities expressing their support and prayers. As of now, Saif Ali Khan’s condition remains critical, with further updates expected after surgery.
Meanwhile, police are intensifying their investigation to locate and apprehend the assailant.
