BTS’s Jin Unveils Solo Single ‘The Astronaut’ Before Military Enlistment

The K-pop idol has Army excited with his cute new character Wootteo.

BTS’s oldest member, Kim Seokjin, announced the release date of his upcoming solo track The Astronaut with the first trailer on Tuesday. The single will be premiered on 28 October before the singer and dancer joins the South Korean army for mandatory service.

According to BTS’s agency, Big Hit Music, the song is Jin’s “gift for the fans”.

The trailer was uploaded by Hybe Labels on its official YouTube channel. It features a tiny astronaut exiting a futuristic space station as he floats above the earth. The tiny astronaut travels past the moon, various planets, satellites, meteor showers, asteroid fields, and a dog (presumably Jin’s white Maltese dog, Jjangu) before he is enveloped into an otherworldly source of light as the song’s official logo appears.

In addition to the trailer, Big Hit Music rolled out the entire schedule leading up to The Astronaut‘s grand premiere for the already excited fans. According to the schedule, the official poster would be unveiled today at 11 AM ET.

Next up are three different concept photos to be released on 23, 24, and 25 October.

Finally, Jin will drop the official teaser video for the song on 26 October.

That’s not all! The Moon singer’s unique creativity knows no bounds. His iconic team of characters — Kore, RJ, and Bangtani — got a new member, called Wootteo, today.

The name is made up of two words: woo = woojoo (universe/space) and tteo= tteodori (wanderer).

A couple of days ago, an Instagram account by the name of Wootteo popped up on the BTS Army’s social media radar. The newly-made account features cute posts of the alien character copying various iconic poses of Jin.
