Renowned actress Bushra Ansari has voiced her concerns regarding the increasing prevalence of Ramadan transmissions on television, suggesting that these programs may be detracting from the spiritual essence of the holy month.
In a candid vlog shared on her YouTube channel, the senior actress expressed her worries that the focus has shifted from prayer and reflection to mere entertainment, leading many to experience hunger without engaging in meaningful religious practices.
In her vlog, Bushra Ansari organized an Iftar event, where she shared her thoughts with her followers. She pointed out that nearly every channel now runs Ramadan transmissions, making it a common practice that has seemingly overshadowed the true spirit of the month.
“There were transmissions before, but people didn’t watch them as much. That was a good time, but nowadays people watch with great enthusiasm,” she noted. While acknowledging that she too enjoys sitting in on various Ramadan shows, she emphasized that this trend might distract viewers from their religious obligations, such as prayer and Quranic recitation.
Bushra elaborated, “I feel that when we didn’t watch these transmissions, we engaged more in worship. We would recite the Quran and read tasbih whenever we had free time.”
Her concern is that the current trend of eagerly watching these shows may lead to a decline in devotion. “Now, without worship, without reciting the Quran or doing tasbih, just watching Ramadan transmissions and fasting is no longer a fast; it’s just hunger,” she lamented.
The actress’s remarks come at a time when the media landscape is saturated with Ramadan programming, often filled with entertainment rather than spiritual content.
While these shows can provide a sense of community and enjoyment, Bushra’s perspective highlights a growing concern among some that they may dilute the essence of fasting and worship during this sacred month.
