Chaudhry & Sons Has Important Underlying Message [Video]

Chaudhry & Sons

As Ramzan drama Chaudhry & Sons released a second teaser this weekend starring Imran Ashraf and Ayeza Khan it has perked the interest of audiences.

This is the first time Imran Ashraf has been cast as the male lead in a full-blown rom-com in the drama scene. However, he does have a rom-com film lined up, Dum Mastam.

Although Ayeza Khan is a regular in Ramzan dramas, with her stint in Chupke Chupke last year, it will be interesting if she plays a different character this time around.

Both characters are depicted in very interesting contrast in the teaser. It appears that Billu is the son of a pehlwan but that he is himself an ‘urbanized shokha‘, fif it’s appropriate to use that term. Meanwhile, Ayeza’s character is from Hyderabad, the polar opposite of the Punjabi munda.

It seems opposites attract in this story. Despite the comedy, Chaudhry & Sons has an important underlying message. Addressing the ‘same caste’ marriage issues and how family elders are rigid about inter-caste and creed relationships. Going as far as to deny the idea of their children’s happiness in order to oppose marrying outside their ‘biraadari‘.

We can expect interesting dynamics between Sohail Ahmed and Irsa Ghazal’s characters as Billu and Pari’s daada and daadi, respectively. The story revolves around family bonds, values, and ultimately, reconciliation.

So who’s the writer behind this Ramzan drama? None other than Saima Akram Chaudhry. The playwright has delivered a number of hit Ramzan dramas over the past years such as Suno Chanda, Ishq Jalebi, and Chupke Chupke.

Meanwhile, Syed Wajahat Hussain is directing Chaudhry & Sons for Geo TV.
