As a clip from the much-awaited Disney series Ms. Marvel hits the Internet comic geeks are going wild. However, the desi community isn’t too happy with the representation.
From the misrepresentation of Pakistani parents to the peculiar accent they had going on.
This is such false representation of Pakistani parents. No Pakistani parent, even if Punjabi talks like this!! And what’s with the Indian English accent?

Where's the Pakistani Representation?? What's up with their accents?? Pakistani's don't speak like that.

Then there was the age-old debate of all brown people are not the same. They have distinct cultures and ethnic identities.
Iman Vellani, Saagar Shaikh, Nimra Bucha, Mehwish Hayat, Fawad Khan, Vardah Aziz, and Samina Ahmad are all Pakistani actors they hired to be on the show

Indians are still playing Pakistanis though.

One Netizen was just happy to have any brown, desi characters onscreen. Even saying, at least it was better than what Marvel did in Daredevil.

However, it seems this might really affect the Disney Plus series’ viewership now. If the desi community, both from Pakistan and in the United States, doesn’t feel represented, it takes away the spirit of the series.

How Sana Amanat and Stephen Wacker, and writer G. Willow Wilson created a Pakistani-American Muslim female superhero because till now there wasn’t one.
While the protagonist of the show is played by a Pakistani-Canadian, and there are Pakistani actors in the cast such as Saagar Shaikh, Nimra Bucha, Mehwish Hayat, Fawad Khan, Vardah Aziz, and Samina Ahmad. Is that enough?
Additionally, Pakistani-American writer Bisha K. Ali and director Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy are also some minds behind the web series.
