Did You Know Bakhtawar Bhutto’s Shawl Depicted Her Life With Her Mother?

She explained the story behind the embroidered art on her shawl.

Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, daughter of the assassinated Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, recently got engaged in a grand function. The engagement party took place at Bilawal House and looked nothing but spectacular. When the 30-year-old shared her engagement ring story, her fans were nothing but awestruck. But the story behind the embroidery on her shawl is even more inspiring and creative!

The engagement bride wore a gorgeous soft-hued pink dress and a heavily embroidered shawl by Nida Azwer. Taking to her Instagram account, Bakhtawar Bhutto revealed that the intricate details of her shawl showcased her life and her mother’s role in it. She wrote:

The design of the shawl is divided into three chapters (two pallus) telling two different stories. One side is embroidered with images and childhood memories of us growing up in Islamabad and the other side captures the start of my next chapter in life where a scene is set where the groom can be seen arriving with a ring and preparations are in place for the engagement event.

In another post, she shared a video clip from her engagement party. Bakhtawar was all smiles sharing the backstory of her shawl with her father, take a look:

In another snippet, she explained that this art is inspired by the Mughal era paintings.

We took inspiration and inference from old Mughal miniature paintings depicting moments of life and scenery, but we translated everyday life with a lot of fun and relevance – the groom is seen in a window ready to March but the bride is on the other side preoccupied with her phone/Instagram/music.

Bakhtawar has shown the creative and artistic side of hers through this thoughtful gesture. Kudos to the designer for her attention to detail. What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
