Did You Know Deepika Charged As Much As Ranveer for a Cameo in “‘83”?

The ‘Bajirao Mastani’ actress has an extended cameo in the movie.

Ranveer Singh is currently shooting for Kabir Khan’s ’83 in which he is playing the role of legendary cricketer and India’s World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev.

Ranveer worked hard with Kapil Dev to get into the skin of the character. And his recently released first look from the movie has proved it.

As evident from the title, the movie revolves around India’s maiden world cup triumph in 1983 when they defeated the hot-favorites West Indies team to lift the trophy.

Deepika’s Entry

At first, the producers were hesitant to take Deepika on board for the film, as the movie is all about a boys’ sport. They thought there really was no need for any female actress.

However, Ranveer suggested that the directors cast his beau Depila Padukone as Kapil’s wife Romi Dev. Though Romi was a key player in Kapil’s life, her role was limited in the prospect of their world cup win.

The producers also believed that the storyline doesn’t allow a female lead in the movie and wanted to cast a talented young actress for a brief role instead of any A-List star.

However, Ranveer persuaded them that Deepika is perfect for the role.

Resultantly, Deepika was cast for an extended cameo in ’83, and that too based on her full market value.

Note that Deepika, the real-life wife of Ranveer Singh, is the highest-paid actress in the Bollywood. And for a brief role in the film, she has been paid INR 14 crore, at par with Ranveer Singh’s entire role.

The movie has already got people excited before its release and Deepika’s entry will prove to be the icing on the cake.
