DJ Shot Dead for Not Playing Music After Midnight

The victim was just 18 years old.

2019 is about to end and not on a very optimistic note by the look of things. Where people celebrate wedding festivities with firecrackers and loud music, a tragic incident took place in a village of India. Reportedly, a DJ was shot dead because he refused to play music after midnight, as per the orders of the administration.

A source reported on Thursday, December 5, that an 18-year old DJ was shot dead in India after he refused to play music after post-midnight at a pre-wedding party.

A Crime Was Committed

The young victim, Karan Singh accompanied his paternal uncle and cousin named Gursewak Singh to a pre-wedding party at Nirvair Singh’s residence in the village of Maste Wala, Punjab to provide their DJ services on 30th November, Saturday.

“The party started at 7pm and continued till midnight. However, at 10pm we stopped playing music as it was against the administration orders,” Gursewak told the authorities.

Five of the men, including the groom’s father fired gunshots in the air to threaten Gursewak and his family after they busted out of fury.

Gursewak further added:

“At midnight we finally refused to continue and the accused Sukhdeep Singh allegedly opened fire with his 12-bore rifle. The bullet hit Karan Singh on the right side of his chest which caused his death,”

He further told police that the accused ran away immediately while Karan was rushed to Civil Hospital Moga where he was declared deceased on arrival.

Karan’s family registered a case against the five suspects. The police has arrested one of the accused and a weapon was also recovered from his possession on December 2. Later, two others were also been taken into custody. Furthermore, authorities are raiding the local areas to arrest the other two suspects.

What did he do wrong?

No human deserves to die like this. Karan was just an 18-year old boy who had his future ahead of him. Does turning off music justify the cause of his tragic death? No, absolutely not. We hope that justice will be served and the culprits will receive a harsh punishment. Our condolences and respects are with the family of the deceased and we hope they could solace in this crucial hour of distress.
