Egyptian Child Dies of Heart Attack While Playing PUBG

A child died due to sudden cardiac arrest while playing Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) for hours non-stop in Egypt. Egyptian media reported that the 12-year-old child died from a sudden heart attack.

It wasn’t until the investigation, that the cause of the death was found to be cardiac arrest due to prolonged concentration while playing PUBG. The boy’s phone was found next to him still running the game.

The 12-year-old’s parents found him and immediately rushed to Al-Salam Hospital in Port Said by ambulance. Unfortunately, it was too late. Emergency Department at the Health Directorate confirmed that the child died before reaching the hospital.

The shocking death led to Al-Azhar Fatwa Center issuing a warning against potential harm to children due to electronic games such as PUBG.

The multiplayer battle royale game PUBG has been the center of controversy worldwide. There are many other battle royale video games, but PUBG has gained global popularity with its mobile offering.

Irked by its global fame, many parents and adults blame it for causing behavioral issues among children. However, there is no research-based evidence to back the claim.

Previously in August, a 16-year-old boy lost his life after playing PUBG non-stop for days on end. He was skipping meals and did not even drink water.

Following hundreds of millions of downloads worldwide, the game has also become a source of income for professional gamers.

Recently Pakistan’s Telecommunication Authority (PTA) banned the video game after two teens killed themselves when prohibited from playing the game. The ban was later reversed after the game makers promised to take care of concerns raised by PTA.
