Mark Zuckerberg was known as the third richest man after the virtually ‘unbeatable’ Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos. But no more. Not if Elon Musk has anything to say about it.
The Bloomberg Billionaires Index recently revealed that Tesla’s Elon Musk has beaten the CEO of Facebook, and is now the third richest dude in the world.
This achievement for Musk came after an increase in Tesla’s stock value. A 500% rise in Tesla’s stocks, to be precise. This added $87.8 billion to his wealth and has made the CEO of SpaceX worth $115 billion in total.
According to reports, last month Tesla’s stock was valued at $2,213 per share.
Musk now stands next to names like Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos, who are worth $125 billion and $200 billion respectively.
In addition to this, Musk also revealed the latest in AI technology- the Neuralink brain chip. He described it as ‘kind of like a Fitbit in your skull’. The chip has been implanted on a pig.
We have a healthy and happy pig, initially shy but obviously high energy and, you know, kind of loving life, and she’s had the implant for two months.
Much like the Black Mirror episodes, Musk believes the future holds powerful AI technology and innovations.
Yes, I think in the future you’ll be able to save and replay memories. I mean, this is obviously sounding increasingly like a Black Mirror episode. But… well, I guess they’re pretty good at predicting.
He believes that a brain interface can help us backup and restore memories- making it easier for people to upload them into a new body or a robot.
The future’s going to be weird.
Whether we’ll live to see the future or not, sci-fi fans are already excited about what Musk has planned. For now, Elon Musk wouldn’t be too worried as the third richest man in the world.
