Elon Musk Launches and Sells $1M Worth of ‘Burnt Hair’ Perfume in a Few Hours

The tech enthusiast has come up with a creative way to raise funds so that he can buy Twitter.

The founder of SpaceX, Tesla, and the tunnel-making Boring Company, Elon Musk, who is known for sniffing out money-making opportunities and capitalizing on quirky products, recently launched a perfume called ‘Burnt Hair’ that he claims to have sold 10,000 bottles of for $1 million in just a few hours.

He then proceeded to brag about the unbelievable feat on Twitter:

The eccentric genius describes his perfume on its website as ‘The Essence of Repugnant Desire’.

He had announced the availability of the perfume in a tweet, calling it “the finest fragrance on Earth”.

There is nothing much in the description of the scent but rave reviews on the website include, “Stand out in a crowd! Get noticed as you walk through the airport,” and “Just like leaning over a candle at the dinner table, but without all the hard work!”

Referring to his surname ‘Musk, which is also the base of certain strong-smelling fragrances, he said:

The $100 perfume is available on the website and will ship in the first quarter of 2023. To pump up more sales, the world’s richest man took to Twitter to ask for help so he can buy Twitter.

Musk struck a deal to buy Twitter for $44 billion earlier this year but the journey to the actual purchase was hindered, first with him backing out, followed by the matter landing up in court.

Twitter is suing him for ‘breach of contract’, and the court has set 28 October as the deadline for the closing of the deal.

Subsequently, Musk proposed to go through with the original $44 billion bid last week.
