Facebook Gets Exposed After Removing Bella Hadid’s Post About Palestine

The social media giant apologized to the star after getting caught.

Bella hadid

Supermodel Bella Hadid comes from a financially blessed family. Her father, Mohamed Hadid, is a millionaire Jordanian-America real estate developer. But recently, Facebook did something rather questionable on Bell’s Instagram page that has become an embarrassing PR nightmare for the social giant.

Bella recently posted a picture of her father’s passport- celebrating his place of birth – Palestine. The story was removed by Instagram and Bella was quick to call them out for it.

2016’s Model of The Year, posted a picture of her father’s American passport on her Instagram story and wrote:

My baba and his birthplace of Palestine.

However, Instagram removed the post and deemed it ‘against their community guidelines”.

Bella’s Response

Bella did not back off and then posted a screenshot of their notification to call them out publicly in her Insta stories.

She wrote:

Exactly what part of me being proud of my father’s birth place of Palestine is ‘bullying, harassment, graphic, or sexual nudity’?

Are we not allowed to be Palestinian on Instagram? This, to me, is bullying.

You can’t erase history by silencing people. It doesn’t work like that.

She then posted another photo of her father’s passport and asked Instagram if they want Mohamed Hadid to change his birthplace.

Asking everyone to post where their parents come from, the supermodel said she is a proud Palestinian.

I’m proud to be Palestinian.

Everyone should post where their mother and fathers were born today! Remind them how proud you are of where you come from!

Instagram’s Response

A spokesperson for Instagram parent company Facebook apologized to Bella and said it was a misunderstanding.

To protect the privacy of our community, we don’t allow people to post personal information, such as passport numbers, on Instagram.

In this case the passport number was blurred out, so this content shouldn’t have been removed. We’ve restored the content and apologize to Bella for the mistake.

Bella Hadid, although only 23 years old, showed Facebook that blatantly removing content to silence the public will not be accepted.
