Britain’s longest reigning monarch and nations figurehead for seven decades Queen Elizabeth II has died peacefully at Balmoral. The 96-year-old Queen had strong ties with Pakistan and toured Pakistan twice, in the years 1961 and 1997.
Queen Elizabeth II was the monarch of 15 countries. Earlier yesterday her family gathered at her Scottish estate after concerns grew about her health. And now after the demise of the Queen her son Prince Charles has officially taken the helm and has been branded as the King of England. And as the monarch’s direct heir Prince William is expected to become the Prince of Wales.
Throughout her reign of 70 years, the late Queen visited Pakistan twice in 1961 and 1997 with her husband Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip. She visited Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Lahore, and other areas of the country.

During her second visit, she met the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Shareef who was in power at that time. She also had a brief interaction with former late Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

In 2013 she invited the youngest activist Malala Yousafzai to her palace and had a brief chit-chat at Buckingham Palace. There Malala’s father presented a copy of her memoir, titled “I am Malala”.
And before the start of the ICC world cup 2019, all the captains of cricket teams were invited to the palace for a meeting with the queen. At that time Pakistan cricket team was under the captaincy of Sarfaraz Ahmed. He had the honour of meeting with the longest reigning queen.
