In the past few months, the surge in coronavirus cases took the world by storm, especially Europe. Major countries and cities were reporting thousands of deaths per day and the healthcare workers were working day and night to protect their patients.
That’s when 200 Pakistani taxi drivers decided to help these healthcare workers by providing them with free rides in Barcelona, Spain.
While the city was under complete lockdown amid the pandemic, Sheraz Syed and other Pakistani men were facilitating the medical staff in the best possible way.
“Medical staff work too many hours and we saw that they were going to their jobs using public transport. For this reason, as they are working on the front line for humanity, we began this service also to save them more time and, in this way, they don’t spend it on public transport.”
However, they were also at risk of being infected by the deadly virus. In fact, some of Syed’s friends and colleagues did test positive for the virus.
Sadly, Syed Sheraz himself has fallen victim to COVID-19. According to a tweet posted last night, Sheraz has tested positive for coronavirus and is under medical care.
He requested his friends and other people to pray for his quick recovery.
