Fawad Chaudhry: ‘New Film Policy’ Will Abolish All Major Taxes on Films

The ‘new film policy’ will be announced next month.

The government is actively working for the revival of Pakistani cinema. In a recent tweet, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry stated that the ‘New Film Policy’ will be announced next month.

The minister met with the delegation of the Pakistan Film Producers Association (PFPA) on Wednesday. During the meeting, matters pertaining to the film industry came under discussion and the long-awaited film policy was finalized.

 

Fawad Chaudhry said that revival of the film industry was the foremost priority of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government. He said that the PTI government is committed to fully encourage the export of Pakistani films.

Furthermore, harmonizing the film industry with the technology and modern requirements like other sectors is the need of the hour.

Taking to his Twitter handle, he stated,

“New Film Policy will be announced next month, all major taxes on Films will be abolished likewise Dramas and Film business will get special benefits, hope new Film Policy will go a long way to revive Pak Film industry.”

Senator Faisal Javed Khan applauded his initiative to launch the Pakistan Film Policy. He said it will support the local art and entertainment industry.

“Glad to see @fawadchaudhry expediting the process & finally we’ll be launching Pakistan Film Policy to support our art & creative industry. This will help our country to compete at Intl level & help our great talent to flourish. Let’s exhibit the real side of Pakistan to the world.”
