When Faysal Quraishi announced that his new drama serial would be about a feudal lord, we got ‘Mera Saaein‘ vibes. According to the leading man though, his new drama is nothing like the 2010 hit serial.

According to what the actor told Entertainment.pk, the difference lies in the characters. Despite what a hit Mera Saaein was, it was rooted in the idea that women are docile and can be made a damsel in distress who needs a man to save her.

This time around, Madiha Imam confronts Faysal Quraishi as a feudal lord in ‘Sardar Saif-ur-Rehman‘ teaser. How much more confrontational will this woman be in the long run?
Madiha Imam is the same actress that held our heart in Baba Jaani opposite Faysal Quraishi. This time around looks like the Haiwan actor isn’t playing nice at all.
Since the actor was a part of the original Mera Saaein we can take his word for it that his character ‘Sardar Saif-ur-Rehman‘ is nothing like the infamous ‘Malik Wajahat‘. Just based on the teasers we know that this feudal lord isn’t the suave manipulator that Malik Wajahat was. He’s more of a take what I like, no negotiating kind of guy.
In addition, Faysal Quraishi also played a feudal lord in Virasat.
Based on what the actor had to say, can we suspect Madiha Imam might potentially suffering from ‘Stockholm syndrome‘?
“The characters, their behavior and the thinking behind this drama is very different from both Mera Saeein and Virasat. My character is unique because it is a grey character. It can neither be categorized as negative nor as positive. There are very few grey characters written these days. It is a very strong character. The story-line is very interesting, it is relatively different from other dramas”

Besides the two leads, we’ll be seeing Ayesha Gul play Sardar Saif-ur-Rehman’s first wife in the drama. Sabeena Farooq is playing the Sardar Saif-ur-Rehman‘s daughter, and Haroon Shahid is playing his nephew.

Ali Ansari is pegged to be the hero of the drama. Other characters include Saife Hassan and Fazila Kaiser.
