Despite being a fetching but middle-aged man, Faysal Quraishi continues to dominate screens as the lead. So when asked why female artists his age aren’t offered the same opportunities, the Bashar Momin star spilled the tea.
In an interview with BBC Urdu, the Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan actor talked about old co-stars. While talking about these starlets, he elaborated on why they’re only cast as a mother or sister-in-law, rather than central characters.
According to Faysal Quraishi these starlets’ career was set back when they got married and
“The actresses who started with me got married, they got busy, they have to look after kids. When I was working with Sunita Marshall, I found her always worried about her kids on set. When I was working Shaista, she was also worried about her kids. Also, when I worked with Sawaira Nadeem, she used to be on a camera all the time, doing the surveillance of her kids, and also used to instruct her maid on phone regarding them. It is always difficult for girls because they have more responsibilities, we think that we run homes but actually, the ladies do this job, they can keep home and work at the same time.”
He explained how many contemporary stars are in a similar jam torn between work and caring for the kids.
“Now a days, Iqra is not working just because of the same reason, on the other hand, Yasir is doing projects one after another”.
Talking about his Muqaddar co-star Madiha Imam, he said that she will definitely not continue acting in dramas after embracing motherhood.
The Dil-e-Momin star also talked about his upcoming drama, and on-screen chemistry.
