A video of Special Assistant to the Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab on Information and Broadcasting, Firdous Ashiq Awan is making rounds on the Internet. The government finally addresses the issue of Firdous Ashiq Awan’s leaked video

In the video, the Special Advisor can be heard discussing the arrest of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Sanaullah over the phone with an unknown caller. In the conversation the Punjab government official is heard saying that Sanaullah had ‘once again escaped proceedings’ and the government was filing a case against him.

The opposition claims this video of Firdous Ashiq Awan’s telephonic conversation ‘exposes ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) politics of vengeance‘. The opposition also claims that the caller on the other end of the line was Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed.

PML-N is presenting this leaked video as evidence of the government ‘planning Rana Sanaullah’s arrest’. Coincidentally, the PML-N leader is set to be indicted in a drug case next month.

However, Dr. Awan stepped forward to address this leaked video. In a tweet, she asserted that she had been speaking to the family of the late Majid Mehar.

CM Punjab’s digital media advisor, Azhar Mashwani also reiterated that stance on Firdous Ashiq Awan’s leaked video in a tweet saying;

“She was speaking to the family of Majid Mehar, who lost his life in Daska,”

According to the Mashwani, the family of Majid Mehar is holding Rana Sanaullah responsible for Majid’s death.
