Eid ul Fitr is a popular time for the Pakistani film industry and its fans, as most films are released over the three days of Eid. We have a few exciting local films hitting the big screen this year, as we do every year.

From Sonya Hussayn to Fawad Khan starrers, here’s a list of the most anticipated local films to hit theatres this festive season.

1. Huey Tum Ajnabi

The story of the 1971 war is a current trend that filmmakers have begun to scrutinize. Following Nabeel Qureshi’s modern take in Khel Khel Mein, another filmmaker, Kamran Shahid, is now releasing a film based on the same series of events, Huey Tum Ajnabi.

2. Dorr

Dorr by Nadeem Cheema is an action-packed romantic drama in which the hero saves his ladylove from vicious men. Along with romantic songs, the film contains violence, guns, and fight scenes.

Daadal, a story about a fierce woman played by Sonya Hussayn, who is seen killing a gang of rich men involved in horrible things, has also been added to the list. She is pursued by an inspector, played by Mohsin Abbas Haider, who eventually joins forces with her to fight evildoers.

The movie also stars Shamoon Abbasi, Maira Khan, Rizwan Jaffri, and Adnan Shah Tipu in pivotal roles.

4. Lahore Qalandar

This Eid, there will be a few single-screen Punjabi films released, but the only big-budget one is Lahore Qalandar, which brings the old standard Punjabi-style story with a lot of raunchy action. It is directed by Shahid Rana and stars Saima Noor, Banto Butt, Shafqat Cheema, and Shehryar Cheema.

5. Money Back Guarantee

The highly anticipated Money Back Guarantee has generated a lot of buzz due to its star-studded cast, which includes Fawad Khan, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Ayesha Omar, and Gohar Rasheed. It also marks the feature film debut of cricket legend Wasim Akram and his wife Shaneira Akram.

Directed by the multitalented Faisal Qureshi, who has written and starred in many iconic commercials, and entertainment programs, the movie has an action-comedy storyline revolving around a money heist.

The movie was supposed to be released last year, however, it was pushed forward and is now set to release on Eid-ul-Fitr.

Aside from these Pakistani films, two Hollywood films will be released this Eid including John Wick: Chapter 4 and Evil Dead Rise, giving audiences plenty of options.
