Amidst all the panic, the government has imposed Section 144 in Pakistan. According to this decree, the government has applied a month-long restriction on wedding halls, universities, educational institutions, tuition centers, and religious seminaries, ordering them all to close down.

All types of social gatherings have been restricted for the next three weeks, and people are advised to stay at home.

But a wedding plan in Multan remained unchanged. On Monday, during the routine surveillance, officials became aware of a wedding reception being held at Nasir Public School.

Deputy Commissioner Amir Khattak ordered the team of Sital Marri police, led by additional deputy commissioner revenue and corona focal person Muhammad Tayyab Khan, to launch a crackdown on the wedding.

Legal Action was taken

An FIR was filed against the groom, who was standing outside the wedding hall to welcome his guests. Police began to remove all the tents at the venue, in an attempt to save the people present at the wedding from being a victim to a possible coronavirus outbreak in such gatherings.

The school principal, Bilal Dogar, also got an FIR registered against his name, for organizing the event. The corona focal person made an appeal to the people to avoid going to such gatherings and to adopt preventive measures.

The authorities have taken extreme measures to ensure the safety of all the citizens. A control room has been set up at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, and a trained surveillance team of doctors and paramedical staff has been organized.

In other news, the Deputy Commissioner has also ordered a crackdown of stockists selling hand sanitizers and surgical masks. 120 beds and six high dependency units have also been allocated in Multan, Vehari, Khanewal and Lodhran districts to fight the spread of the virus. Isolation wards have also been established at different health centers of the division.
