“Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” but not in this case as artist and philanthropist, Hadiqa Kiani fell prey to online impersonation.

Hadiqa Kiani reported a fake Twitter account on her Instagram story. She clarified that all of her social media handles are verified with a blue tick mark, and told her fans,

Someone using the name @HadiqaKiani0 is impersonating me on Twitter. Please report.

Kiani went on add that she usually doesn’t mind fans impersonating her online, but this particular individual went to far.

“Normally I’m not even bothered after being impersonated countless times, but this person is posting horrific photos of children using my name! What motivates people to go to such lengths is impossible for me to understand,” she wrote. The fraud Twitter account has since been suspended.

Hadiqa Kiani is one of the most creative singers and songwriters in the Pakistani music industry who made a name for herself singing hit songs in Urdu, Punjabi, Kashmiri, Pashto, and even French.

Fans fondly remember her for her iconic songs such as Bhit Ja Bhitai, Dupatta, Yaad Sajan Di Aai, and Iss Baar Milo.

She is a recipient of the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz — one of the highest civilian awards in Pakistan — for her humanitarian work. Kiani was the first Pakistani woman to be appointed as Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations in 2010.

The singer-songwriter is also admired for her humanitarian endeavors as last month she raised $100,000 to rebuild homes for the flood victims in Baluchistan.
