Pakistan’s A-list actor Hamza Ali Abbasi has addressed gossip surrounding his return to the showbiz industry after he stepped aside due to religious reasons.
The Legend of Maula Jatt star clarified that he never officially announced his departure from the entertainment industry.
In a recent interview with journalist Mansoor Ali Khan on his YouTube channel, Abbasi discussed his return to television with ARY Digital’s drama Jaan-e-Jahan (2023) and reflected on his previous statements regarding his career.
In 2019, Abbasi had mentioned taking a break from showbiz to delve deeper into his understanding of Islam. However, he emphasized that he never intended to quit the industry entirely. “I had never bid farewell,” he stated.
It’s ironic because I had categorically said in my 17-minute-long video that I’m not leaving showbiz, but only taking a break to research more about my findings regarding Islam, Allah, and the life hereafter.
Abbasi also highlighted that he mentioned his mentor, Islamic scholar Javed Ahmad Ghamidi, in that video, noting Ghamidi’s perspective on religion, which supports the arts within a moral framework.
The actor’s clarification comes as he resumes his acting career, aiming to balance his artistic pursuits with his personal beliefs. His comments aim to dispel any misunderstandings about his intentions and reaffirm his commitment to both his faith and his work in the entertainment industry.
