Henry Cavill Roped in for ‘Warhammer 40000’ TV Series After Superman Axe

He made a comeback the day after he was let go from his renowned Superman role.

Henry Cavill may have acquired a new job within hours after he was fired by DC Studios from playing Superman for almost a decade. Now, he is reportedly set to star in a Warhammer 40000 series at Amazon.

After months of discussions and fending off competitors bidding for the rights, Games Workshop is presently in final talks with Amazon to acquire the rights to the game.

Henry Cavill, who is also an avid Warhammer player, will be “bringing his lore expertise” to Amazon’s productions, as both executive producer and lead actor.

He remarked, “I have loved Warhammer since I was a boy, making this moment truly special for me,” and added,

The opportunity to shepherd this cinematic universe from its inception is quite the honor and the responsibility.

Warhammer Fantasy Battle was first released in 1987. and was hailed as a huge success by gamers. Marketed as a spin-off of Warhammer Fantasy Battle, Warhammer 40000, was designed by Rick Priestley who joined Citadel Miniatures (a division of Games Workshop) using components from another game he was creating, called ‘Rogue Trader’.

The game is set 40,000 years in the future when human civilization has ceased developing as a result of an ongoing conflict with an extraterrestrial race, demons, and magical entities.

With various versions being issued over the years, the most recent being the ninth edition in 2020, Warhammer 40000 is regarded as the largest miniature wargame in the world.

Henry Cavill’s fans are thrilled to see him back again onscreen after his resignation from the Netflix series, The Witcher, and then getting fired from his iconic role as Superman for DC Films.

For the first three seasons, Henry Cavill played his part in the series until announcing his departure in October. Netflix had reportedly gotten tired of him for being too controlling and causing several problems on the set of The Witcher and was forced to fire him.

An insider claimed, “He wanted complete control of the storylines”.

However, the announcement of Wednesday, in which Henry Cavill said he had been let go by DC Films, probably startled even more fans.

Nonetheless, Henry Cavill’s fans can look forward to seeing him as the lead actor and the executive producer of Warhammer 40000 now.
