Here’s Why Hamza Ali Abbasi is Cancelling his Netflix

He has strong reasons for doing so.

French comedy-drama film Cuties or Mignonnes has created a controversy on social media. People from all around the world have been pointing out that Netflix is sexualizing minors, after the streaming platform released the first trailer of this movie. Now, Pakistani actor Hamza Ali Abbasi has also joined others in getting Cuties removed from the video streaming platform.

The movie follows the lives of young rebellious teenagers, who seem to be fighting with what their heart desires and what moral values societies have set for them. Some critics who have seen the film say that the original feature picture of the movie does not show the 11-year-old girls in a provocative light.

However, Netflix used a ‘misleading’ trailer and featured image for the movie, where these teens can be seen wearing revealing clothes. After facing a barrage of outrage on social media, not only did Netflix apologize but they also changed the cover for this film.

While the cover has been changed, the damage has been done. Many folks are still of the view that this movie should not even be on Netflix, to begin with.

Hamza Ali Abbasi makes his stance clear

One of the protestors is the famous Alif actor. He took to his Twitter account and wrote:

It’s horrifying to see a show in the mainstream blatantly sexualising 11 yr old kids. If this show is still there by next month..I am canceling my Netflix subscription and so should you.
