Lassi is a traditional yogurt drink which is enjoyed by everyone. PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz also loves it but unfortunately she can’t have it.
In a viral photo, Maryam Nawaz is seen holding her steel cup (yes, the very ‘magical’ steel cup which started a whole new controversy). A Twitter user noticed the photo and asked her:
“Are you having Lassi, Ma’am ? @MaryamNSharif“
I wish I could have it everyday but I have to watch my weight so coffee only 😣 https://t.co/oaXB2v1hKW

In her response, the politician said:

This is a struggle a lot of weight-watchers, especially public figures face. Since lassi is sweet, people think that it is high in calories and would lead to weight gain. But that’s actually not true.
Lassi is a yogurt based drink and yogurt is good for you. It is a great source of probiotics, protein and calcium which are great for your gut and overall health.
While many people tend to avoid it because it contains sugar, the drink itself will do more good than harm. Simply replace processed, bleached sugar to jaggery (gurr) or honey and you will have a delicious, healthy beverage to beat the summer heat.
But if you are still skeptical, try namkeen lassi which is likely to have 170-180 calories per glass, which is perfectly fine.
So you don’t need to completely cut it out of your diet, but consume an adequate amount. Besides, it’s healthier than coffee.
