In the midst of COVID-19, Tahir’s charity work came to a halt, but a chance encounter led him to open a restaurant specializing in Peshawari cuisine. Initially uncertain, Tahir discovered TikTok and created an account, @tahirkhanrestaurant. The rest, as they say, is history.

“I used to create vlogs on YouTube about my charity work, but when COVID-19 hit, everything came to a halt,” Tahir recalled during a panel discussion at the Grow With TikTok event in Karachi. “I met someone in Islamabad who suggested we open a restaurant together. I was worried about its success, but then I discovered TikTok.”

Tahir’s TikTok bet paid off. His engaging videos showcasing signature dishes like Dumpukht captivated audiences, and his follower count skyrocketed. “I was surprised by how quickly I gained followers,” he exclaimed.

Before long, Tahir Khan Restaurant became a sensation, with 600,000+ followers on TikTok and multiple branches in the twin cities. The restaurant will soon have an international presence in Bradford, UK, with a new branch.

Tahir attributes his success to TikTok’s short-form video format. “Short-form videos are more attractive to today’s generation, and we must adapt to what’s required.” His story inspires entrepreneurs to harness TikTok’s potential.
