Husband Kills Wife For Opposing Second Marriage

A heinous crime.

Reports of a man brutally beating his wife to death for opposing his second marriage have come to light recently. According to the Sukkur Police, Najma Shah’s body was recovered from the couple’s house in Arore, Rohri. Her eyes had been removed and her body showed signs of extreme torture.

Najma’s husband, Rasool Shah alas Gulzar, along with two of his nephews, Razzak Shah and Bashir Shah, were taken into custody after a court hearing in Rohri. While the three are being held for 10 days, other accused parties including Asif Shah and Kashif Shah have eluded the police.

Najma Shah’s brother, Waqar Shah, filed the FIR at the Patni police station. According to him, his sister was tortured barbarically and murdered by her own husband. In his statement, he said they used lethal weapons such as clubs and iron rods to carry out their evil deed.

Waqar Shah alleged that because his sister opposed the idea of a second marriage, the couple had been fighting a lot. He said that the accused had the help of his nephews and other close relatives in planning her murder.

The Investigation Officer (IO) assigned to this case revealed that Rasool Shah confessed to conspiracy to murder. In his statement, Rasool admitted that he paid his nephews Rs. 100,000 to get Najma Shah killed. He also added that he planned the whole event because Najma had been asking for Rs. 300,000 haq meher since his second marriage.
