Indian Army Orders Soldiers to Delete Their Facebook, Instagram and Tinder Profiles

After 89 Chinese apps, social media profiles are next.

Amid rising tensions between India and China, Indian Army has ordered its personal to delete 89 mobile applications or get ready to be reported.

On July 8, Indian media reported that the Indian Army has requested the personnel to delete their accounts on virtually all major social platforms by July 15.

The list of 89 apps include Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Tinder, TikTok, etc. as the military is fearing hacking and leakage of information.

A few days ago, the Indian Government banned 59 Chinese affiliated apps as a result of the standoff.

Upon the announcement of the ban on June 29th, India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology claimed that Chinese apps were stealing users’ data in an unauthorized manner and transmitting it to servers outside of India.

The move immediately led to a bloody conflict with Chinese troops on the disputed territory of Galwan Valley, Ladakh.

However, it was later reported that China drew back from the area and the two countries decided to have a negotiated settlement.
